4 What we did Following an initial discovery meeting to understand context and need, we held two workshops with teal using concurrent engineering methods supported by design for manufacture and assembly techniques.
5 Outcome Major changes were made to the internal design of the product resulting in less parts, easier assembly operations, improved electrical safety and a 25% reduction in cost. The product was lunched during 2001 and is selling at 30 machines per month. Teal are now proposing to design new and re-lifed products to satisfy European market opportunities. In February 2002, Teal started a Teaching Company Scheme with University of Warwick support aimed at the implementation of a structured product development process and the development of a new range of products.
